Utility Service Coordinator
DEPARTMENT
Permit Control - London / South East

We are currently recruiting for a number of positions for our Permit to Dig department to work on projects all over London and the South of England. If you are looking for your next challenge or just need a change, then this is a great opportunity to work in a growing team.

Responsibilities For Service Coordinator

  • Ensure the Permit to Break Ground can’t commence until all sections (except completion) are appropriate.
  • Ensure information from the desktop and field studies are incorporated into the Permit to Break Ground.
  • Be responsible for receiving and processing all Permit to Break Ground requests and approve or reject the permit due to incorrect documentation.
  • Once the Permit has gone live from site, the Service Coordinator is required to monitor the digital Permits start and end date and will renew or extend the Permit depending if the works are completed. Note: The Permit will be valid for 7 calendar days from the point of going live.
  • The Service Coordinator will appoint the Service Locator and will manage their workload via the digital platform. Any concerns or issues associated with intrusive works or the Permit to Break Ground process must be reported back to the Service Coordinator.
  • The Service Coordinator has the right not to issue any more Permits to Break Ground to a site location until the as-built associated for the works have been received and added to the latest SMD.
  • The Service Coordinator will be responsible for the CAD Coordinator and to ensure they comply with the Standard.
  • The Service Coordinator must review and ensure the follow is compliant:
    • Competency of Service Locator and calibration certificates for utility locating tools (CAT & Genny).
    • Ensure there is accepted Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) for the works being undertaken.
    • To consult with project engineer and check to seek evidence has been obtain and by the utility owners’ permissions and guidance has been sought regarding the scope of works as detailed in RAMS – this will include both buried and overhead services.
    • Drawings have been provided with clearly defined excavation boundaries, such as a fence line, a trench plan or their co-ordinates.
    • A suitable and recent PAS 128 Level B survey along with the statutory records has been undertaken.
    • Ensure the following documentation are added to permit:
      • – Breaking Ground Activities and Utility Detection Standard (HS-STD-5020)
      • – Achieving Best Practice in Service Avoidance HS2 Expectations and Guidance
      • – Colour code Standards Appendix A
      • – Exclusion zones and best digging practice
      • – GS6 Guide and ENATS Guide – Look out Look Up.
      • – PAS 128 Standard
      • – HSG 47 Standard
      • – Emergency Contacts
      • – Master shape file work location drawing

 

Requirements

  • This can be a fast-paced environment that changes quickly, so candidates need to be able to adapt to change and prioritising workloads.
  • We want somebody who can multi-task, be adaptable and become a valuable member of our team.
  • A minimum of 3 years utility surveying experience
  • Experienced in use of Electromagnetic location and ground penetrating radar, along with the use of total stations and GNSS acquisition.
  • A good understanding of common industry practices and standards in regards to utility detection, such as PAS 128 and TSA
  • Good working knowledge of surveying equipment, such as GPR, CAT and Genny utility detection equipment
  • Flexibility to travel to our sites nationwide.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team and deal with clients on site.
  • Clean & Full driving License

  • English speaking

  • CSCS Card folder (This will be required before starting work)
  • GPR Post Processing Experience
  • AutoCAD / N4CE experience
  • Topographical Surveying Experience
  • Laser Scanning Experience
  • QCF Level 5 for utility mapping
