Building Information Modelling (BIM)

The Benefits

Benefits:
H&S: Optimises the Design, Construction and Handover process
Commercial: Removed commercial risk of proceeding on the basis of incomplete and/or inaccurate information
Engineering: Reliable and comprehensive representation of the subject area

Description

BIM is a process that applies to the life cycle of a project, from feasibility and design to handover stage As-built models. It is reliant on the creation, maintenance and understanding of a comprehensive 3D Model of the subject area that clearly identifies and defines its inherent features, dimensions, nature and condition. Vision utilises Laser Scanning instrumentation to capture the relevant data that generates the model. In turn, CAD, Revit & Microstation software are applied to manage the model and create the required outputs.

From 2016 all publicly funded projects will be required to utilise 3D BIM methods and outputs as part of their design, construction and delivery process. Vision has embraced these industry developments and can currently deliver surveys that meet these specifications.
