In 2007 owner and Managing Director, John Gray set up Vision Survey with the ambition to become the foremost authority on permit to dig control in the UK. Beginnings were simple, a second-hand Royal Mail van provided transport to different sites around Heathrow and London where John would issue permits. Perseverance and dedication allowed him to forge strong relationships with many clients, and the company began to grow.
Fast forward to today, we have diversified from permits and now offer a range of survey solutions that cover almost any construction need. These include topographical surveys, laser scanning, underground utility detection as well as many others.
From one, we now have over fifty dedicated staff members. We are proud to be continually involved in the largest civil engineering projects which include Tideway, HS2 and Hinkley Point to name a few. Check out some of our project case studies.

When we needed to carry out an in-depth utility and topographical survey in a critical area, we chose Vision as our preferred provider. The team was fully professional, self-sufficient, and respectful of the processes and security that comes with working at Heathrow.
Vision Survey has provided a service which has been very responsive to our demands as the project progressed.
Vision Survey was engaged to develop a bespoke permit to dig process and procedure to reduce the risk of service strike occurrence. Their surveyors and management team were responsible for issuing permits and monitoring all work within the construction site boundary. Vision Survey issued in excess of 2000 permits to dig with no service strikes and have managed to coordinate the hard task of delivering final as-built survey information.
Vision Survey was appointed to undertake GPR Surveys due to their expertise in identifying existing utilities. Vision provided surveyors who undertook and provided all the existing stats information. Their Permit Controller remained on site and integrated nicely with the team.
